In a conversation with Ben Croft several years ago, I "got" the mission. When I then went through a Summit, the "pull" came because of what I was learning, the quality of the presenters AND the quality of the facilitators! It was my opportunity to be part of something bigger than me AND give back, as a saw the facilitators were doing. In addition to facilitating exceeding my expectations, WBECS has grown the roles and expectations of the facilitators, allowing for a greater contribution to WBECS and the coaching community. Being part of the worldwide coaching community is significant and thrilling!
Milestones:
- The coaching I do is usually termed executive coaching having had a career as an executive leader/manager in for-profit companies. My first milestone while coaching executives was my transformation in coaching from the mindset of an executive leader/manager to a coach who coaches executives. A significant portion of my first years of coaching included coaching men and women making the same career transition: corporate leader to executive coach.
- The second milestone was the embodiment of the learning/training for executive coaching finishing as a Master Certified Executive Coach. While I knew my passion, experience and skill set was coaching senior level leaders in both for-profit and non-profit organizations, having a credential mattered to me because it mattered when I was a senior leader looking for expert support.
- My third milestone came as a result of an experience I had as an executive leader. An experience I had while working and leading moved me into flow, into the zone, as a leader. The outcome was a great success for me, my team and our customers, and happiness for me. Soon after creating a process to coach leaders to flow, and while being a facilitator with WBECS, I “discovered” Judith Glaser and Conversational Intelligence® (C-IQ). Milestones:
- In 2002 I graduated as an MSc supervisor in the Netherlands. The topic of my thesis was “Online Supervision & Coaching”. In those days (17 years ago) digital instruments for learning were not accepted among coaches. My colleagues found it weird and disapproved the idea of virtual coaching conversations. Against the odds I was a leaper and kept trying to work virtually with clients. Nowadays, I am still a leaper in the community of Dutch coaches in striving to be part of a global digital context with WBECS. I did online courses( ORSCC, Conversational Intelligence and Narrative Coaching) and I have virtual calls practically every day. I believe this to be the future way of life and learning for all.
- After my first study at university in The Netherlands (nutrition & health) I lived for five years (‘80-’85) in Mozambique. Living there as a young mother has enormously impacted my identity. I am proud of being influenced by the African culture. Since then I supported many NGOs in Africa.
- Together with a Dutch colleague we founded the Dutch Organisation & Relationship-System Coaching (ORSC ) Community of Practice for Dutch speaking ORSC coaches. In three years it has grown into an active community, supported with a website, social media and regular activities for practicing ORSC tools. I am in the board. As a community we are growing to the next level of organization.

Ultimately, all of us get to play a part in impacting the world for the better.

I made a u-turn, pulled up to her, rolled down my window, and asked if she needed a ride. She had been waiting for hours after having gone to church and no bus! I took her home and it turned out she lived in the same apartment building as 2 of my friends, so I asked them to check in on her from time to time.
